Peggy was born in New York State and migrated with her family to California in 1956.
She attended San Jose State College and worked in the health care field for most of
her career. Her interest prior to accepting the position at CVVH had been in geriatric
care. As a Regional Marketing Director she traveled to 11 skilled nursing facilities
in central California. Her responsibilities included staff development, customer
relations and quality care. Peggy moved to Nevada in July of 2002 to accept the
position of Administrator at CVVH. She finds the same kind of caring people work
in the field of animal health as she found in human healthcare. The transition
between the two has been made easy by the supportive team she found at CVVH. Peggy
has a Boston terrier named Opal. She loves to travel, loves to hike and has found
a little bit of heaven in Nevada.
CLIENT RELATIONS STAFF
Our receptionists are available to assist you with scheduling
appointments, checking vaccination status, refilling
prescriptions, messages to the doctors and other administrative
needs. These team members are a valuable resource and your
link to our veterinarians. Our client relations team takes
pride in assisting you with your pet care needs.
REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIANS
Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVT) have specialized
education, on the job experience, and have passed a national
and state exam to obtain their licenses. They must attend
Continuing Education courses annually to maintain their
licenses. These skilled professionals monitor anesthesia,
assist with surgery, collect laboratory specimens, place
catheters, take radiographs, perform dental cleanings and
extractions, and assist the veterinarians in the medical
care of your pets (much like a Registered Nurse assists the
physician). Many of our RVTs obtained their licenses while
working here full time. We are proud of our highly trained
staff.
TECHNICIANS IN TRAINING
We are proud to participate in Southern Nevada Community
College's Veterinary Technician Program. Our Veterinary
Assistants who enroll in this program attend courses and
learning labs as well as receiving on the job training. They
receive a certificate from the Nevada State Board of Veterinary
Examiners allowing them to perform tasks under Veterinary or
RVT supervision so they may ultimately take the examinations
to become Registered Veterinary Technicians.
VETERINARY ASSISTANTS
Our Veterinary Assistants are an integral part of our support
staff team. They administer treatments, hold patients for
procedures and care, assist with radiographs, assist with
surgical prep and surgeries, aid in recovering surgical
patients, do laboratory work, and assist the RVTs and
Veterinarians in the medical care of your pet.
ANIMAL CARETAKERS
Our Animal Caretakers are the "hands on" caregivers for
hospitalized pets. These caring team members feed, exercise,
clean, maintain a sanitary environment and give lots of TLC
to pets requiring hospitalization. They also keep our hospital
clean, well stocked and running smoothly. While working as
caretakers they often receive on the job training that leads
to other positions such as Veterinary Assistants or
Receptionists.
PURCHASING AGENT, ADMINSTRATIVE ASSISTANT AND BOOKKEEPER
We have many "behind the scenes" team members who keep our
hospital running smoothly. Our Purchasing Agent keeps our
busy hospital stocked and handles special orders to meet our
clients' needs. Our Administrative Assistant has many duties
including making the appointment book pages, tabulating
personnel data, gathering bids for outside services, and
handling the banking. Our Bookkeeper performs all the
duties of a bookkeeper and makes sure our staff gets their
paychecks, which keeps them happy.
CARSON VALLEY KENNELS
Our Animal Caretakers, Receptionists and Manager at Carson
Valley Kennels are trained to care for your pets while you
need to be away. They are able to provide love, company,
exercise, nutritional care and a safe, loving "home away from
home". Should a medical need arise while you're gone our
doctors are only a few steps away. Our boarding kennel's
staff are available to schedule your pet's stay, provide
vaccination information, discuss boarding protocol and answer
any questions you may have. They are always willing to give
you a tour of the facility as well.
