Dr. Cameron Ross, D.V.M

Dr. Ross spent his younger years growing up in Nebraska and Iowa. He graduated from the University Of Missouri College Of Veterinary medicine in 1993. He graduated at the top of his class and received awards in small animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Cameron’s special interests include internal medicine, surgery, ultrasonography, reproduction, and exotics. He regularly attends continuing education seminars in these areas of interest. His wife, Monica, daughter Elsa, and twins Parker and Amelia round out the family. Their pets include a Yellow Lab, Finn; Boston terrier, Bella; and Cat, Elvis. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, fishing and hiking.


Dr. Steve Talbot, D.V.M

Dr. Talbot was born in Bishop, California. He attended veterinary school at the University of California, Davis. After graduating in 1965 he went to work at the Berkeley Humane Society Veterinary Clinic for one year. He has worked at Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital since 1966, when he and Dr. Cornforth treated mostly livestock and some small animals. The valley and the practice have changed a great deal over the years. He now sees primarily dogs and cats. He and his wife, Jill Derby, have raised their two children here in Minden. Dr. Steve has two dogs and several fish at home. One of Dr. Steve's favorite activities is hiking the mountains behind his home near the Kingsbury Grade area. He also enjoys fishing, camping and skiing. Dr. Steve has completed many leadership and growth seminars. He attends the Wild West Veterinary Conference in Reno, ACVIM (Internal Medicine), and International Veterinary Services for his continuing education. His special interests in veterinary medicine include surgery and medicine as well as nutrition.


Dr. Justin Pitts, D.V.M

Dr. Pitts grew up in Missouri and received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Southwest Baptist University. He went on to attend Southwest Missouri State University and the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Missouri, Columbia receiving his Veterinary degree in 1994. Following graduation, he joined a small animal hospital in Las Vegas, NV where he held a senior associate position for 14 years. In 2008, he and his family moved to the Carson Valley to join the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital team. Justin and his wife have two children and Dakota the family dog. In his free time, he enjoys DIY projects, camping and other outdoor activities. He attends Veterinary Conferences and continuing education seminars annually. His special interest in veterinary medicine include: surgery, internal medicine, general ultrasound and echocardiography.


Dr. Jennifer Danielson, D.V.M

Dr. Danielson was born in Reno, moved to Hawaii until middle school, and finally moved to Carson Valley where she grew up. She went to Carson Valley Middle School and Graduated from Douglas High School. Jennifer graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in animal science in 2011. Her special interest in the veterinary medicine field is internal medicine. Jennifer has a black lab, Kona, a tortoise kitty, Cammy, and two horses, Shade and Vision. In her free time she enjoys being outdoors, riding her horses, hiking and camping.


Dr. Scott Warner, D.V.M

Dr. Warner was raised in Boise, Idaho. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho and his doctorate from Washington State University in Pullman. Dr. Warner has interests in internal medicine and ultrasound. When not working he enjoys hiking, cycling, photography, and surfing. Unfortunately, he recently lost his two pugs, June-bug and Chloe.


Dr. Erin Price, D.V.M

Dr. Erin Price joined the practice in December 2014. Dr. Price and her family are natives of Reno, Nevada. She graduated from the University of Nevada with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science. Growing up she was always drawn to animals and was fortunate to be surrounded by dogs, cats, pocket pets, and horses. From an early age she was passionate her career would involve working with animals. Achieving one of her life’s goals and childhood dream she completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in 2009. She has been working as a veterinarian in the greater Reno area for 5 years. Dr. Price and her husband, have one daughter. They have a house full of pets that include a yellow Labrador, three cats, three horses, and chickens. Dr. Price’s enjoys spending time with her family, riding horses, gardening, tennis and golf. Dr. Price’s true love for animals shows in her compassion and respect for her patients and their families, treating them as her own at every visit. She strives to make every patient and their owner feel heard and well cared for. She takes pride in providing thorough up-to-date diagnostic and treatment modalities to preserve the pets’ health and well-being so they can enjoy their life to its fullest.


Dr. Koster, D.V.M.

Dr. Koster grew up in the Carson Valley and graduated from Douglas High School where she was very involved in FFA, soccer and speech and debate. Dr. Koster graduated from Washington State University with a BS in Animal Sciences and subsequently graduated from Washington State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Her interests in veterinary medicine include client communication, internal medicine, oncology and routine health care and prevention. Her hobbies when not at work include fly fishing, hiking, skiing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends in the area. Dr. Koster has a German shepherd named Jack to go on life’s adventures with.


Dr. Jim Nelson D.V.M.

Dr. Jim Nelson was born in Colorado and lived in South Dakota, and Pennsylvania before moving to Reno for his Junior year of High School. After graduating from Reno High School he went on to receive his BS from the University of Nevada then on to the University of Missouri for veterinary school. Jim graduated vet school with the class of 1993. He and Dr. Ross were room mates during vet school and shared in all the blood sweat and tears of those 4 years, as well as the fun! After vet school Jim worked in a small animal practice in Reno where he developed a love for emergency and critical care. That love moved him back to Kansas City where he joined a specialty practice and worked as an ER clinician. Nevada called him home in 1996 and he took a position at the Animal Emergency Center of Reno as an ER clinician. After 20 + years there he has now made his final move back to CVVH. Jim has enjoyed a variety of job related interests and has a passion for wildlife. He has worked closely with NDOW, as well as the USFWS dealing with many wildlife issues. He has worked with bears, bighorn sheep, antelope and deer to name a few. He has been President of NBU and is currently on the advisory board for the College of Agriculture, biotechnology and Natural Resources at the University of Nevada. Jim is married to an Equine veterinarian, Kris Purcell and together they are raising a beautiful daughter, Ashlyn. In his free time Jim enjoys running, biking, hiking, camping, bow hunting, fishing with a special need for chukar hunting. He has completed numerous ultra running events, and even a half iron triathlon. He shares his home with 4 dogs, a cat and way to many horses.


Dr. Nick Mannan, DVM

Raised in Tucson, Arizona, Nick originally began his career working with animals in wildlife ecology. Later he found his passion to be in veterinary medicine and attended Colorado State University where he was awarded the prestigious Gentle Doctor Award for compassionate veterinary care. He now enjoys outdoor activities and working with his wife Emma, on a variety of species in their new home in Minden Nevada.


Dr. Emma Timmerman, DVM

Emma was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and, along with her two sisters, was involved in everything animal-related as a kid. She received her bachelor of science from the University of Arizona and then moved to Colorado to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Emma graduated summa cum laude from Colorado State University. Emma enjoys hiking, backpacking and generally being outside with her husband, Nick, and their dogs and horses.
